Remaining cloudy and cool on Thursday

Thursday marks the beginning of Astronomical Fall, and the weather will reflect the season we’re entering. It’s another cool and cloudy forecast, with high temperatures in the 60s across much of southeast Nebraska.

Thursday Forecast

As of Thursday morning, showers were underway in southwest Nebraska. As the day wears on, these will attempt to move east. However, I suspect that these showers will break up as they do so. We may have some dry air to work within the lower atmosphere too, so rain droplets will have a hard time reaching the ground near Lincoln.

For these reasons, I believe the rain chance is small in eastern Nebraska on Thursday, but it’s not zero. Chances are slightly higher closer to the Tri-Cities. Either way, we do not expect a lot of rain out of these showers.

Precipitation Potential

Rain chances actually increase heading into Friday morning, as another batch of showers will arrive in eastern Nebraska. However, those will exit by the afternoon. In fact, the sun may poke out for the second half of Friday.

Stormcast Friday Morning

As we head into the weekend, temperatures will begin to climb. We expect a high near 70° on Friday in Lincoln, with 80s returning on Saturday.
