Remaining mild for a few days

After a very mild weekend, the comfortable air mass will remain on President’s Day. The day features a mixture of sun and clouds, with temperatures initially in the 20s and 30s. However, we’ll quickly rise into the 40s and 50s as the day progresses.

President's Day Forecast

We’ll likely top out near 55° in Lincoln. Most areas should be able to reach the 50s on Monday, which is about 10-15° above average for this time of year.

Monday Forecast

Tuesday doesn’t bring forth any issues either, but that might change on Wednesday. Snow will overspread much of northern and western Nebraska on Tuesday night and early Wednesday. As we head into Wednesday, rain and freezing rain will be a possibility in southeast Nebraska.

Stormcast Wednesday

While snow will primarily be an issue to the north, ice may be a bigger concern to the south. Southeast Nebraska will be in prime position for a dry slot to move overhead at some point on Wednesday, and that could be a saving grace in terms of ice accumulation.

We’ll be watching this system closely in the coming days. Behind it, temperatures will plunge. We’ll go from 50s for highs on Monday and Tuesday, to teens for highs by Thursday.
