This evening at Schoo Middle School Jeff Fortenberry hosted a town hall meeting where hundreds of people came out and asked their questions.

"Well this is Nebraska and we generally pride ourselves on this idea of civic virtue where even in the midst of disagreement we can talk reasonably about things. It’s unfortunate we’re living in a climate where tow hall have gotten so volatile and so aggressive. However, that doesn’t mean that I still don’t have a responsibility to stand before the people I represent, and try to answer in a thoughtful way," said Rep. Jeff Fortenberry.

The congressman faced many inquiries about Trump being investigated.

"a lot of debate over that Russian stuff you know it’s way beyond one congressman’s ability to do much. People just take the opportunity to vent," said Town Hall Attendee Pat McGrane.

With a lot of people voicing their concerns to Fortenberry, it created a contentious atmosphere.

"Atmosphere was a little tense. Rather tense because their looking for our leaders to lead. We sent them there to speak for us, and the questions that I hear we’re legitimate," said Janet Goodman-Banks.

"I don’t think they were so mad as trying to voice their feeling and say hey we need you to step up to the plate and call these people on their lies," added Jude Martindale.

For the majority of people who attended thought this type of environment is not the way to get things done.

"I think there’s way too much meanness going on in there and we have to be able to talk to each other and communicate across the divide or we don’t change things," said Moni Usasz.

This is just one of the many town halls that Representative Jeff Fortenberry is hosting. the next one is on Monday in Blair, Nebraska at 10 a.m.
