Man attacked someone with a pitchfork in Nebraska park, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man is accused of using a pitchfork to attack someone at a Nebraska park.

The Grand Island Police Department says Alayn Perez was arrested around noon Monday.

Officers say he went after a 23-year-old man and was still holding the pitchfork when they arrived at Pier Park.

Perez listened to orders to drop the tool, according to police, but then tried running away.

He was eventually caught and charged with second-degree assault, obstruction and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

Police said he was also involved in another attack earlier in the day at Crossroads Mission Avenue, a homeless shelter.
