UPDATE: Rescue Crews find body of one of the missing men near Guide Rock

The Webster County Sheriff’s office says one male was located on Sunday around 9:25 a.m. The body was found in the river about 1/4 to 1/2 mile east of the Guide Rock Diversion Dam.

The search continues for the second male. Grand Island Dive and rescue team is helping search near the dam area at this time.

GUIDE ROCK, Neb. — Authorities in south-central Nebraska say rescue crews are searching for two men missing at the Guide Rock Diversion Dam near Guide Rock.

Dive teams began searching for the men Friday afternoon. The Webster County Sheriff’s Office says someone reported that the two were fishing at a dam on the river when they were pulled underwater by an undertow.

Fire and rescue squads from Guide Rock, Red Cloud and Hebron/Deshler also were called to help in the search.

The search for the men continued Saturday.
