RFK Jr. is out, Cornel West is in: Nebraska’s presidential ballot is set
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Secretary of State Bob Evnen on Tuesday announced which presidential candidates will appear on the ballot in Nebraska.
Cornel West, a former Ivy League professor, was nominated by Nebraska’s Legal Marijuana NOW Party.
In other states, he is the nominee of other minor parties, and in some, he is an official write-in candidate.
Jill Stein, the Green Party nominee, will be on the ballot as a nonpartisan candidate. The Green Party does not have ballot access in Nebraska.
Nonpartisan candidates must submit a petition with signatures from at least 2,500 voters.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. met that requirement and had been certified to appear on the ballot.
But Kennedy suspended his campaign last month and withdrew his name on Monday.
Evnen said another would-be candidate, Shiva Ayyadurai, gathered enough signatures but will not be placed on the ballot because he is “undisputedly” not a natural born citizen.
Here is what the presidential ballot will look like in Nebraska:
- Donald J. Trump, President (Republican Party)
JD Vance, Vice President - Kamala D. Harris, President (Democratic Party)
Tim Walz, Vice President - Chase Oliver, President (Libertarian Party)
Mike ter Maat, Vice President - Cornel West, President (Legal Marijuana NOW Party)
Melina Abdullah, Vice President - Jill Stein, President (By Petition)
Samson Kpadenou, Vice President
