Ricketts speaks out against increasing taxes to help solve the property tax issue

Lawmakers are still trying to come up with ways to fix property taxes, and one of their latest ideas is to increase taxes on home sales and home repairs.
In response to the proposal on Thursday morning, Governor Ricketts held a press conference and spoke against increasing these particular taxes because of recent events.
“The other thing we have going on right now is that we’ve got a lot of flood damage, in our state and so people will be remodeling their homes and fixing or their homes and the legislature is talking about adding more cost to that remodel,” Gov. Pete Ricketts said.
The Revenue committee said today they are expecting to have a hearing later this week to discuss a future property tax bill.
