LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Adams Central Avenue in Hastings closed Saturday after a train hit a vehicle that was stuck on the tracks.

The Adams County Emergency Management Agency said the vehicle got stuck on the tracks earlier in the day.

The driver was passing over the tracks when the vehicle got high centered due to a buildup of ice and snow.

Officials said everyone was out of the vehicle when the train hit it. There are no reported injuries.

Attempts were made to get the vehicle off the tracks before the train came, but they were unsuccessful.

Officials also said Union Pacific Railroad was asked to stop all train traffic, but the train was unable to stop in time.

The agency said the vehicle was pushed down the tracks a long distance before the train stopped.

The train was blocking the Adams Central and Osage Avenue crossings.

Adams Central reopened on Monday.
