Lincoln’s Robber’s Cave to reopen for tours

Robber’s Cave will reopen for public and private tours later this week.
After much interest and demand from the public, the owners of the property want to continue to provide tours to the people of Lincoln and surrounding areas at the popular site. Tours will begin Friday, June 7th.
Eventually, the tours will allow visitors to see areas of the cave that were previously off limits such as Fat Man’s Misery, the Questions Mark, the Well, and the Bat Cave.
Visitors will continue to enter through the front doors of the property to take part in tours.
Tickets for tours must be booked online at RobbersCaveTours.com and remain $10 per person. This new website provides details about the caves, the tour guide, and other important information that visitors will want to know prior to their arrival.
The public tours will continue to be conducted on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, while private tours can still be booked for any day of the week.
Tours will continue to be conducted by local teacher and author, Joel Green, whose book Robber’s Cave: Truths, Legends, Recollections is being considered for the Nebraska Book Award.
In the last two and a half years, at least 40,000 people have toured Robber’s Cave. Due to the unique nature of the cave and its history in Lincoln, the owners of the property felt it was important to open the cave once again for viewing.
This will continue while another tenant is sought for the vacant space. The brewery and restaurant will remain closed while tours are taking place.
To ensure the cave will remain a treasured part of Lincoln’s history, this year, Robber’s Cave is going to be nominated for the National Register of Historic Places.
The request is being made thanks to the hard work of the Robber’s Cave ownership group, Joel Green, the Office of the Capitol Commission, and the State Historic Preservation Office.
