Robber’s Cave to reopen for tours this week

Robber’s Cave, the capital city’s historical cavern, has been closed off for the past few weeks after Blue Blood Brewing suddenly closed down in May.

But that wasn’t going to last.

“Due to public demand, the owners of Robber’s Cave, Robber’s Cave LLC, reached out and let me know that they wanted to get me online with tours as soon as possible,” Joel Green said.

Green, who authored a book about Lincoln’s only underground attraction, said he’s thankful to be hosting tours to curious crowds once again.  After all, it’s been a source of mystery and fascination for generations in Lincoln.

“There’s not a lot of caves in Nebraska, so I think we have a pretty cool basement,” Green said.  “Just a lot of stories in here, a lot of memories and several uses over the years.”

As a bonus, a few areas that were off limits to the public before will now be open, such as the The Well, Fat Man’s Misery and the Bat Cave.

That’s not all.

Green said they’re nominating Robber’s Cave for the National Register of Historic Places, based on its social use over the years.

Tours will begin at 5 p.m. Friday.
