Roca Berry Farm celebrates season opener with overhaul of various attractions
ROCA, Neb. (KLKN) — With the official start of fall around the corner, Roca Berry Farm opened its doors on for the season on Saturday.
There are new attractions this season that staff said are going to surpass those of previous years, with plenty to do for all ages.
From a new tubing slide to new sights on the train ride, the farm was full of families ready to take on all these new activities.
Farm part-owner Josh Schaefer said the goal of each year is to fulfill the farm’s slogan.
” ‘Harvesting memories since 1980,’ is the slogan on all of our logos you see, and we try to live by that and make it happen every year,” Schaefer said. “We harvest memories with all our staff and employees all the way down to all of the guests that come.”
Many opening day visitors got to try out the new attractions for themselves, with children piling on the new ropes course.
After wearing themselves out, they could sit in the shade and watch the bubble station attendants create soap bubbles larger than the children.
“For a lot of people, it definitely does turn into a family tradition,” Schaefer said. “We’ve already seen so many season pass holders come through today.”
This season, a mini goat farm was added along the train ride to complement the towns of skeletons.
Schaefer, whose parents bought the farm back in 1980, said much has changed since the early days of growing strawberries.
Roca Berry farm started out with around 40 acres of strawberries, but with the increasing popularity of the fall season, they soon saw themselves switching from berries to pumpkins.
“This has just been the best place to grow up,” he said. “It’s been so much fun seeing people have fun out here and all of the hard work that our family puts into it. I wouldn’t trade it for anything, and we have a great team here.”
The farm will be open every day till Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with night tours starting on Friday.
