We kick off a special series called "Rod Jobs," where Channel 8’s Evening Anchor Rod Fowler spends the day doing someone else’s job.

Serendipities Cupcakes is located just north of 48th and Cornhusker. It’s a busy place. The lunch crowd enjoys grilled cheese sandwiches and sour, but let’s not forget dessert. For dessert, fancy cupcakes made from scratch.

Terri Urtel the co-owner of Serendipities Cupcakes invited Rod to help her bake.

"Rod, I thought we’d start with your favorite cupcake, chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting," Urtel said.

They kicked if off with a pound of butter, sugar, half a dozen eggs, throw in some flour, cocoa and milk. Then let the machine do the work where Rod was in charge.

"Still on low… whoa.. let me get a towel. It can be a little messy. Newbies, what ya going to do with us."

Next thing you know, we have the perfect mix of batter and into the over it goes. About 18 minutes later the cupcakes are done. Now it’s time to add the frosting!

Add a few more ingredients to make the frosting, but let’s not forget to add the peanut butter.

And now the ever so important part, the taste test.

"I don’t like it, I love it," Rod said.

As they finished up, Rod said Terri was the perfect coach. She sells about 1,000 cupcakes a week. Her best seller was the salty dark chocolate.

Adding the final touches on the "Rod Fowler Chocolate Cupcake" was the peanut butter frosting.

The big surprise, all proceeds from the cupcakes sold throughout the month of July will good toward Food.net.
