Rodeo team helps wrangle several escaped bulls in southwest Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A community college’s rodeo team helped wrangle several escaped bulls early Friday morning in McCook.
Around 12:45 a.m., the McCook Police Department received a report of cattle leaving the Red Willow County Fairgrounds.
When officers arrived, they found two bulls on the fairgrounds.
Members of the Mid Plains Community College rodeo team helped secure the two bulls. Officers then learned there were seven more bulls at large.
Six bulls were found north of a UPS building after officers followed their tracks in the fresh snow, police said.
The bulls were captured by getting them into a pen, just north of Q and 10th streets.
Police said the last bull was found “a good time later” near Norris and Marsh avenues.
The rodeo team, which included three members on horseback, chased the bull to Norris Park. They were able to safely lasso and capture the bull.
In a post to Facebook, police thanked the rodeo team for their “fast response” and help in capturing the bulls.
