Runza fans line up to try breakfast sandwich at north Lincoln location

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Runza fans lined up Wednesday morning at a north Lincoln location to try its long-awaited breakfast sandwich.

A “very limited” batch of breakfast Runza sandwiches was sold at the restaurant near 56th and Holdrege streets starting at 8 a.m.

Some people waited in line for over two hours to ensure they snagged a breakfast sandwich.

Several fans told Channel 8 they hope the sandwich becomes a permanent menu item.

But Becky Perrett, Runza’s marketing director, said this won’t be a common occurrence.

“I could see us, based on the excitement and reaction, doing some more one-day special things like this,” she said. “But it’s not an announcement that we’re changing hours or the menu. This is just for fun.”

During the event, Runza raised money for its Feed the Need campaign, which helps out youth hunger organizations.
