Rural Prosperity Nebraska program helps Lincoln market and cultural center
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The family behind Amparito’s Market is thanking Rural Prosperity Nebraska for helping make its dream a reality.
RPN’s Latino Small Business Program provided assistance to create a welcoming atmosphere for immigrants in Lincoln.
“Amparito’s Market is something that we wanted to bring into Lincoln to provide connection… because customers can find here what they can find in their home countries,” said Raul Sarmiento Junior, whose father owns the store.
The Latino Small Business Program provides guidance to immigrant entrepreneurs looking to build their businesses in Nebraska.
The store offers products from Central and South American countries to help immigrants feel connected to their home countries. Amparito’s also serves as a cultural center, offering money transfer services and fostering a sense of community.
Amparito’s goal is to be a resource for immigrants, providing them with familiar products and sharing their culture.
Sandra Barrera, RPN’s overseer, has helped 145 entrepreneurs start their businesses.
For those looking to create their own food-centered establishment, Barrera hosts monthly food safety courses in Spanish.
