LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an assault and carjacking on Saturday that left two victims on the side of the road.

Just before 3:30 a.m., a 24-year-old male and a 22-year-old female were driving a grey sedan on 168th Street near Giles Road when a dark sedan stopped in front of them.

Officials said the male driver got out of the car to see if the dark sedan needed help.

At that time, two males jumped out of the dark sedan and assaulted the 24-year-old, according to officials.

Officials said the female passenger also got out of the car and she too was assaulted.

Both victims were knocked to the ground and one of the suspects stole their car, officials said.

A pedestrian stopped when he saw the two victims and called 911.

Both victims refused medical treatment when offered, according to officials.

The stolen car was found in a nearby neighborhood shortly after the assault by deputies searching the area.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who lives along Timberlane to check their home security cameras or video doorbells for helpful footage.

Anyone with information can contact Investigator Spurgeon at 402-593-4322.
