LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Senator Ben Sasse said Friday morning he would consider supporting an impeachment of President Donald Trump.

“The House, if they come together and have a process, I will consider whatever articles they might move because as I’ve told you, I believe the president has disregarded his oath of office,” Sasse told “CBS This Morning.”

“He swore an oath to the American people to preserve, protect and defend the constitution. He acted against that. What he did was wicked,” Sasse said.

According to ABC News, Sasse is the first GOP senator to publicly express an openness to impeachment since the chaos at the U.S. Capitol

Channel 8 Eyewitness News has reached out to each of Nebraska five congressional delegates asking whether or not they would support an effort to remove the president from office.

Congressman Don Bacon said in a statement, “This is a decision for the VP and the cabinet. The President today committed to peaceful transition of power.”
