Scammer posed as Lancaster County deputy to steal over $1,800 from woman, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman lost over $1,800 on Saturday to a scammer impersonating a Lancaster County deputy, police say.

A 38-year-old woman got a voicemail from an unknown caller, who identified themselves as a deputy.

The caller said she failed to report for jury duty and owed a $1,842 fine, according to police.

The victim paid the scammer before calling the police.  An investigation is ongoing.
