Scattered rain on and off; drying out again into weekend

Thankfully since Wednesday night, southeast Nebraska has mainly just seen rainfall without any stronger, severe storms. Storm reports were nearby, though, with a few tornado reports in northeast Kansas around Alma, Rossville and Alta Vista. Some stronger wind gusts were also noted at 50-60 mph just west of Concordia.

Storm Reports

Back here at home, we’ve finally seen some measurable, steady rainfall overnight – something we’ve been needing and wanting for a while!

At the station, we had seen about 0.45″ going into the morning show Thursday. That’s a third of what Lincoln had seen for the year before this!

We’ll see rain continue through the late morning and maybe again tonight. This all comes as occasional showers without the threat of any severe storms for the rest of the day.

Temperatures are going to stall out for Thursday, too. We’ll be stuck in the upper 4os and lower 50s practically all day long.

The wind out of the north will also be strong at times, gusting around 30-35 mph especially later in the day.

For the end of the work week and into the weekend, we’ll clear out and dry out. The warmest day coming up will be Saturday before next week.

A dry frontal passage into Sunday will leave us again closer to normal temperatures at this time of the year in the lower 50s.
