Scattered showers continue, then clearing Wednesday evening
Rain started up with some thunderstorms coming through just before midnight last night, with showers still going on this morning.
These showers will continue to be in around Lincoln and especially toward Omaha for the morning commute, lifting to the northeast initially.
Temperatures will remain mild through the morning hours with a southeast breeze. There won’t be much change in the overall temperatures we see throughout the day until clearing tonight. Highs will be nearing the low to mid 50s this afternoon.
Then the backside of this system will bring northwest winds and another round of rain by the late morning and early afternoon, potentially lingering around pick-up time for school.
Another tenth to almost an inch is possible past 7 a.m. Wednesday morning through the evening hours. Most rain will fall toward Omaha into western Iowa during that period.
Again, clearing later this evening is expected, and temperatures will fall to about freezing by Thursday morning because of clear skies overnight.
But we’re in for some very pleasant days looking ahead to the end of this week and beginning of the weekend.
Note about next week (November 20-21): We’re still monitoring trends in the track of that system. There looks to be a tropical storm and potential hurricane (what would be named “Sara”) in the Gulf next week, which would also impact the weather pattern here at home and the path of our system midweek. There’s a lot of uncertainty still in whether our system gets swept away east after bringing rain Monday (next to no wintry precipitation), or whether it gets caught and brought back south a bit for a wintry mix possibility Wednesday/Thursday.
Timing and details are still to be worked out in the coming days!
