Scattered storms initially; Eventually clearing out
After an overnight round of rain, we’re seeing more thunderstorm development early Wednesday morning. The radar imagery as of 7 a.m. Wednesday shows a fair deal of storm activity in central Nebraska.
No versions of Stormcast are handling the storms well, so we’re basing a lot of our forecast on recent radar trends as opposed to computer model guidance. We suspect that these storms will slowly drift east through the morning, bringing scattered storms to the area.
The expectation is for skies to clear out by the end of the day. High temperatures will be closely tied to when the cloud cover departs, which is tricky to determine. Nevertheless, we should be mostly clear by evening.
If cloud cover hangs around through late afternoon, there is a good chance we’re stuck in the 70s for highs. However, should skies clear out by early afternoon, we could see middle-80s for highs. We’re forecasting a high near 81° in Lincoln for now.
Thursday through Saturday is looking mostly dry as of now, and temperatures will warm up. Highs should increase to the 90s by Friday and Saturday.
While there are a few small chances for storms through Saturday, the overall odds to see rain are not great. Our next best opportunity to see storms after Wednesday morning likely comes on Sunday.
