LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Last week, Scott Middle School parents received an email notifying them of an odor inside of the school causing some students to feel ill.

Pedroza told parents the odor comes from a construction project being done at the middle school. An LPS spokesperson says the renovations will be going on for about a year.

Scott Middle School Principal, Marco Pedroza wrote to parents that they will work with the Lincoln Public Schools Operations team to modify their air intake systems. The new air intake would minimize the odor inside of the school.

Pedroza says the health office checked out some students who reported feeling ill due to the odor.

“We will continue to work with LPS Operations to monitor the air quality and ensure a safe learning environment. Thank you for your patience and understanding,” wrote Pedroza.
