Screamers Family Restaurant leaving Lincoln’s Haymarket, rebranding to Show Stoppers
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Screamers Family Restaurant is getting a curtain call this spring, but the show will go on.
The restaurant announced Thursday that it is changing its name to Show Stoppers and moving to the Telegraph District.
Screamers is known for its singing servers and performances from up-and-coming local talent. It serves a variety of food, including burgers, wings, pasta and seafood.
The restaurant opened in 2018 and was named after the Scarlet & Cream Singers, a University of Nebraska-Lincoln show choir team founded in 1973.
Kevin Witcher, a former member of the show choir group, started the restaurant as a tribute to the iconic group, which disbanded in 2008.
On Monday, Witcher posted to Facebook promoting the transformation, saying anyone who posts a picture at the new location will be entered in a drawing for a $200 gift card to Screamers or Show Stoppers, if they choose to wait.
The restaurant told Channel 8 that the move will happen in late spring or early summer.
