Search of Lincoln landfill for homicide evidence comes to an end

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Police Department says it’s stopped searching for homicide evidence at the city landfill.

Multiple law enforcement agencies joined the effort after the body of 49-year-old Ronnie Patz was found at a northwest Lincoln motel on Sept. 1.

Just days before, 61-year-old Ronald George was found dead near Third and P Streets, with stab wounds around his neck.

William Wright, 55, was taken into custody and has been charged with second-degree murder in George’s death.

The investigation also connected Wright to the Motel 6 where Patz’s remains were found.

Wright reportedly threw items into a dumpster there, according to authorities.

They later determined a dump truck had taken its contents to the landfill.

Police tell Channel 8 that they think they’ve found all the evidence they’re going to be able to recover at the landfill.
