Seasonably mild days until rain comes
The second half of Monday finally saw clearing clouds that have allowed temperatures to nosedive by Tuesday morning. Many of us have temperatures in the lower 20s with occasional wind chills in the teens.
We get all the best parts of Monday on Tuesday – a full day of more sun and a lot less wind.
Highs will be still seasonably mild for the next few days, until Friday cools into the upper 40s (closer to normal for early March).
Rain chances increase for the back half of the work week, too. It’s been since about this time in February since we’ve received measurable precipitation, and it’s looking like Thursday will be our best bet.
A couple features will promote our best chance for rain in quite some time. A system to the north will bring a cold front through western Nebraska first on Wednesday, with isolated rain then snow showers possible as another system deepens to our south.
Both will help moisture and therefore rain chances increase heading into Thursday for southeast Nebraska. A few isolated rumbles of thunder are possible too in extreme southeast Nebraska, but widespread rain looks likely especially by Thursday evening.
Most could receive around a quarter inch if not more from rain showers that linger into Friday. Eastern Nebraska will be warm enough through this event that all precipitation is expected to fall as rain.
