While we got off to a warm start to the calendar year, winter looks to surge onto the scene once again starting Thursday evening.

  • Frigid wind chills arrive Thursday evening and into early Friday morning (up to -30°).
  • Daytime highs on Friday will be in the single digits.
  • Chances for snow across the state on Friday and Saturday.

Friday morning will feature wind chills down to -20° to -30°, with a very similar story on Saturday morning.

Due to dangerous wind chills, an Extreme Cold Watch is in place for northeastern and north-central Nebraska.

Snow chances start out in western Nebraska on Friday and slowly move east, according to the latest runs of StormCast. Snow reaches southeast Nebraska late Friday and into early Saturday.

Df Snow Potential No Numbers

The highest potential for snow looks to be in a swath across the panhandle and along the Kansas-Nebraska line. Models are still struggling with how far north the highest snow totals will extend.

Overnight lows will be chilly this evening with temperatures dropping to the middle teens in eastern Nebraska.

Df State Tomorrow High

Close to average on Friday for much of the I-80 corridor, with highs in the 30s. Cooler as you head north, with afternoon temperatures only in the middle 20s.

Df 10 Day Forecast

Several frigid days on the way for the upcoming weekend. Temperatures slowly recover starting on Sunday, returning close to average by the middle of next week.
