Security vulnerability prompts closure of Lincoln Electric System’s public lobby

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — By the end of July, Lincoln Electric System said it will permanently close its customer lobby at the Walter A. Canney Service Center.
The decision follows internal staff analysis and review by LES senior leadership, including an independent third-party assessment, officials said.
According to LES, the assessment identified several security vulnerabilities in the customer lobby that pose risks to both employees and visitors.
“The decision was made after thoughtful consideration of several factors, including evolving customer preferences, the success of LES’s online customer portal, and the security challenges identified in the lobby space. We determined that this change is the best long-term path for both customer experience and safety,” said Lisa Hale, vice president of Customer Services. “More customers are choosing online and phone services because they’re quick, easy and accessible. Our goal is to meet customers where they are while making sure they still feel supported and connected to us.”
Although the lobby will close, LES said it remains committed to providing flexible, convenient ways for customers to manage their utility services.
- Online: Pay bills and manage accounts anytime at MyAccount.LES.com
- Phone Support: Speak with a customer service representative by calling 402-475-4211
- Mail: Send checks or money orders with your bill stub to LES
- Walmart Pay: Bring your LES account number to any Walmart customer service desk and request Walmart Pay to pay your bill
- Drop Box: Checks and money orders can be placed in the secure drop box at the Walter A. Canney Service Center
“To our customers who may be concerned about this change, please know that we are still here for you,” added Hale. “LES is proud to be community-owned and operated, and we are committed to making sure every customer has a way to get their service needs met.”
The public lobby opened in May 2021 near 27th Street and Cornhusker Highway after the closure of the LES’ downtown location at 11th and O streets, where it had operated since 1987.
The lobby will remain open until its closure at the end of July.
