Self-service store in south Lincoln is a ‘game changer’ for local businesses
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Creative Collabs Collective, a self-service shopping store, is open 24/7 and is the first of its kind in Lincoln.
The store – located near 14th Street and Old Cheney Road – houses 17 local businesses, all owned by women.
“I wanted to make it feel more of like a shop at your own convenience and privacy,” said Melanie Rezac, the store’s owner.
The storefront opened last July. The goal is to bring small business entrepreneurs together to collaborate.
To enter the store, shoppers have to text 531-500-9020 for a daily access code. Once the code is acquired, consumers can shop whenever they want.
“Being able to do this really gives our small businesses a way to have a storefront and get their product in front of people without the typical costs that it would normally be to open a storefront on your own,” Rezac said.
Berries by Jillian is one of the businesses featured at the store. Owner Jillian Thompson said being part of the project has been a “game changer.”
“I’m not able to brick and mortar all by myself so it’s nice to be able to come to a store with other business owners who may be in the same position as me,” Thompson said.
