Semi driver killed in fiery crash on I-80 in western Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A semitrailer driver was killed Thursday in a crash on Interstate 80 in western Nebraska.
The Nebraska State Patrol said the crash was reported around 8 a.m., just east of the Brady interchange.
A semi left the road and ended up under the Platte River bridge.
The patrol said the semi’s cab was engulfed in flames when first responders arrived.
Troopers were unable to reach the driver due to heavy smoke under the bridge, the patrol said.
Fire crews extinguished the flames, and the driver was found dead.
Paramedics treated three troopers for smoke inhalation.
The crash shut down a part of Interstate 80. It has since been reopened.
An investigation is ongoing.
