Senator Ben Sasse Speaks at Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Luncheon

Senator Ben Sasse spoke in front of a large crowd on Thursday at the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce luncheon held at the Country Club of Lincoln. He touched on many topics, but his focus was the demographic trends that are dividing America that don’t need to, trends like gender, age and geography.

Senator Sasse says, “We’re in a pretty massive realignment in American politics, and a lot of times when you have a big disruption, a big reorganization of an institution of politics, more good than bad might flow from that.”

The senator thinks what is happening in politics right now is mostly unhealthy. He says cultural and economic disruptions are causing polarization.

Sasse says, “It’s pretty obvious that America’s electorate is sort of resorting itself along gender lines, along racial lines, along education lines, along age lines, and along urban to rural lines.”

According to Sasse, what’s mostly wrong in America didn’t come from politics, and can’t be fixed by politics.

When asked about the midterm election, Sasse said, red states got redder and blue states got bluer.

Sasse did speak for a few minutes after the forum about Jeff Session’s resigning. He said the next attorney general needs to be non-partisan and the Mueller investigation needs to continue.
