The Lancaster County Sheriff’s office said a 68-year-old man had to be taken to the hospital by helicopter after he lost control of his bike around 3p.m. today on Highway 77 and Highway 33 near Roca.
Authorities say the man was merging onto Highway 77 when he was blown off the road either by natural winds or winds generated from a nearby semi. He was taken to Bryan West Hospital in critical condition but he is expected to survive.
Both lanes of Highway 77 were closed while the helicopter rescue operation took place. Highway 77 has now reopened. The man’s name has not been released an no one is expected to be cited for the accident.
