Seven train cars derail in Lincoln, BNSF says
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Seven train cars derailed early Tuesday morning in Lincoln, officials say.
BNSF told Channel 8 that the derailment happened around 1:30 a.m.
Several Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews responded to the railyard near Sun Valley Boulevard and West O Street on a hazardous materials response.
A spokesperson for BNSF said one car of ethanol was “compromised.” But that leak has since been plugged, and the spill is “contained.”
No one was injured, and the cause is under investigation. BNSF says there is no ongoing threat to the public.
