Seven vehicles stolen from Lincoln dealership; two end up in crashes

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Car thieves hit a Lincoln auto dealership early Monday morning, police say, making off with seven vehicles.

Police said sometime after midnight, two males broke into A&R Auto Sales at Highway 6 and Westgate Boulevard, near Capitol Beach.

Surveillance video captured them breaking the glass of the south door and taking multiple vehicles, according to the Lincoln Police Department.

The total value of the seven stolen vehicles was about $44,000, police said.

The thieves also hit three vehicles on their way out of the lot, according to LPD, causing more than $6,000 in damage.

One of the stolen vehicles turned up just after 2 a.m. Monday, when it crashed near First and Fairfield streets.

Police said the 2013 Chrysler 300 drove through a yard, hit a fire hydrant and crashed into another vehicle.

When officers arrived, whoever was in the Chrysler had left.

Then later that morning, police said one of the other stolen vehicles hit a mailbox and a tree near 47th and La Salle streets.

Three people inside the 2014 Ford Fusion — a 13-year-old boy, a 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl — were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
