Several guns found in western Nebraska home after hours-long standoff

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Monday night after an hours-long standoff in North Platte, police say.
Around 1:40 p.m., officers responded to a home on a report of a man firing a rifle outside.
When officers arrived, they tried speaking with the 52-year-old man, who went back inside the home.
Authorities then talked to him over the phone, but he was uncooperative, according to police.
He later told police that he wanted officers to shoot him.
About six hours later, officers threw a “chemical agent” into the home, and the man came out carrying a shotgun, police said.
The man — who has not been identified — followed orders and put the weapon down.
He was arrested and taken to a hospital, according to police.
During a search of the home, officers found another loaded shotgun and two rifles.
Police said criminal charges are pending.
