Several gunshots heard near Cooper Park, downtown Lincoln over the weekend

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are investigating after shots were fired near a park and in downtown Lincoln over the weekend.

On Saturday, around 6:30 p.m., officers were sent to Cooper Park near Eighth and D streets after a caller heard gunshots.

Police said the caller also saw a group of kids disbanding.

A home near Fourth and E streets appeared to have been damaged by gunfire, and officers found two spent shell casings nearby.

No injuries were reported, police said.

On Sunday, around 3:20 a.m., officers were called to Antelope Valley Parkway and O Street on another report of gunshots.

Officers later found 16 spent shell casings in a nearby alley.  Police said there were no reports of injuries or gunfire damage.

Also on Sunday, a man was wounded by gunfire near Knox and Portia streets.  He was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
