Several street closures scheduled in Lincoln this week

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department on Tuesday announced several upcoming road closures.

Starting Wednesday, 40th Street will shut down at Superior Street for utility work by Black Hills Energy.

The project is expected to be done by the end of October.

It’s recommended that drivers take Superior to 44th Street instead.

From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, 33rd Street will close between Cornhusker Highway and Huntington Avenue for railroad track repairs.

Drivers should take Madison Avenue to 35th Street to Adams Street to Cornhusker as a detour.

Southbound Cotner Boulevard will also be shut down Wednesday between Randolph Street and Fairdale Road.

The closure, which will last from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., is for Lincoln Electric System utility work.

LTU recommends using 56th Street as a detour.

Also on Wednesday, 12th Street will be closed from N to O streets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for an event.

On Thursday, Transformation Drive between Court and 17th streets will shut down for an event from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

At 6 a.m. Friday, Canopy Street will close from Q to R streets for an event.

The closure will last until noon Sunday.
