Severe Storm Chances Tonight, Tomorrow
Severe Weather Potential:

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING is in effect until 10 p.m. CDT for central and northeast portions of Nebraska. The primary threat with storms forming along the cold front will be damaging winds, hail, and an isolated tornado or two.

The latest outlook from the Storm Prediction Center indicates a chance for an isolated tornado and damaging winds with this evening’s storms. Keep it tuned to the Storm Alert Team for the latest updates on severe weather in your area.
Localized flooding will also be possible in addition to the rainfall we received early this week. The watch continues longer for portions of northeastern Nebraska.
Forecast:
Forecast low temperatures tonight will drop into the upper 60s and lower 70s. Winds will remain out of the south at 10 to 15 miles per hour, gusting to 20.
Highs for tomorrow will be in the mid to upper 80s, cooling off to the lower 80s as you go north and east from the Capital City. Winds will continue to be out of the south with partly sunny skies. A chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible across southeastern Nebraska.
The Storm Prediction Center currently has a Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 5) for the southeastern corner of the state on Thursday. Damaging winds will be the main concern with any storms that persist throughout the late morning and early afternoon.
Additionally, chances for severe weather shift out west on Friday. While most of western Nebraska will be under a marginal risk, small portions of north central Nebraska will be under a Slight Risk (Level 2 out of 5). Strong hail and damaging winds will be possible with these storms.
Going into the weekend, temperatures will remain in the low to mid-90s with storm chances continuing through the start of July. We look to finally see a break from the heat on Tuesday with mostly sunny skies throughout next week.
