Severe weather expected across the state Monday evening
Monday, an ENHANCED risk for severe weather is in place for parts of central Nebraska. A SLIGHT risk for surrounding areas and a MARGINAL risk in parts of SE Nebraska. Main threats will be damaging winds up to 75+ mph, large hail up to ping pong balls and a few brief spin ups in northern Nebraska. The heating of the day will help fuel storm chances across the region, as temperatures will warm up into the low to mid 90s.
This will mainly be a damaging wind threat as these storms become a MCS. Winds up to 70+ mph will be possible with these storms, especially in the red shaded areas.
Best chance for large hail will be in parts of NE Nebraska. Hail up to half dollar size and ping pong balls will be possible across the state.
There will be some low level shear in the northern half of the state along the MCS. This will allow for some possible brief spin ups Monday evening into Monday night.
Monday through Tuesday evening: StormCast shows strong to severe storms out west through tonight. Through Monday afternoon, mostly sunny and some partly sunny skies with temperatures in the low to mid 90s. By Monday evening, storms form in NE Nebraska and converge into an MCS Monday night. Late Monday evening, parts of NE Nebraska will see some large hail with a few brief tornadoes possible along the front. Early Tuesday morning, strong storms will continue in parts of NE Nebraska and SE Nebraska. Tuesday morning around sunrise, storms will make there way into SE Nebraska with gusty winds and small hail possible. Tuesday afternoon and evening, a cold front will move west to east, bringing strong to severe storms to SE Nebraska by Tuesday night.
Monday evening, there will be quite a bit of CAPE in the atmosphere. This is the amount of potential energy or fuel to develop storms. Storms will likely break any kind of capping in the atmosphere due to the mostly sunny skies and daytime heating throughout the afternoon.
Tuesday, a SLIGHT risk for severe weather is in place for far SE Nebraska. A MARGINAL risk is in place for most of the state. Tuesday evening, storms will develop out west and move SE through the late evening hours. There will be quite a bit of instability in parts of SE Nebraska Tuesday evening, which will make storms become severe quickly when they develop.

There will be quite a bit of moisture in the atmosphere Monday. Dew points in the low to upper 60s, which will help fuel storms by the evening and nighttime hours.
Monday, temperatures will warm up into the upper 80s and lower 90s under mostly sunny skies with a south breeze 5-15 mph.
