Severe weather threat shifts into eastern Nebraska Tuesday
Warm and WINDY so far this morning, not allowing temperatures to fall but a few degrees since last night. That’ll be one of the main weather impacts initially today before stronger storms develop across eastern Nebraska late in the afternoon.
The same system that we were waiting on to spark maybe a few stronger storms from the warm front has now lifted northeast. It”ll drag a cold front through the state today, and there should be better chances to see a line of storms develop after about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
This strong line will push toward Lincoln and Omaha by about 5-7 p.m. this evening, potentially bringing scattered severe storms with it.
The latest update from the Storm Prediction Center this morning has a Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk across eastern Nebraska.
While an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, that threat is quite low today.
Large hail could be a possibility with these storms as they move in.
With another main concern being damaging winds through the evening hours.
After today, the severe threat drops off. More thunderstorms are expected especially for a cooler day on Wednesday – highs only in the middle 70s!
Over the next few days, widespread amounts of 1.5 – 3″ of rain could be possible for many of us across eastern Nebraska.
