Severe winds leave more than 30,000 Lincolnites without power

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Major winds swept through Lincoln Wednesday evening, leaving a trail of destruction across the city.
The severe weather caused damage to multiple trees and power lines, leaving more than 30,000 Lincoln residents without power.
As of 9 p.m., nearly 27,300 Lincoln Electric System customers are still affected.
The total customers impacted was over 30,000 around 6 p.m.
The Lincoln Police Department is busy responding to calls involving downed power lines, arching power lines, traffic light outages, and trees in the middle of the road.

The Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department will remove trees in the road or on public property.
For damage to other public trees between the curb and sidewalk, contact the Parks and Recreation Community Forestry Section at 402-441-7847, ext. 0.
Residents can also report damage to UPLNK.lincoln.ne.gov or by using the UPLNK app.
If your home is damaged due to trees or other debris, call the non-emergency line at 402-441-6000 so first responders can make sure gas lines aren’t damaged.
