Seward Blue Jays can’t get off the ground in loss to Hastings

SEWARD, Neb. (KLKN) – Seward hosted Hastings in the first round of the NSAA Class B playoffs on Friday.

It was a rough go for the Blue Jays; they mustered only one score and fell 35-6.

In the beginning of the second quarter, the Blue Jays were down 14-0.

Hastings quarterback Tucker Synek dropped back to pass, rolled right, and fired a pass caught by Eli Ventura all the way down at the 7-yard line.

The next play was Kooper Kohl, who kept it himself and took it up the middle for the score. 21-0 Tigers.

Later in the second with under two minutes to go, Seward’s Tresten Hess dropped back and launched a bomb down the field.

It was caught in stride by Jack Vyhnalek, who took it all the way to the end zone.

But that would be the only score for Seward.

Hastings travels to Waverly next Friday for the next round of the playoffs.
