Update: Suspect in Norfolk Takes Own Life, Standoff Over

Update:
The police standoff in Norfolk is over. Authorities just announced in a news conference this morning that Cory Dittman took his own life by shooting himself in the head.
The area is slowly opening back up.
Also, police identified the previous shooting victim as 63-year-old Leone Bussey. Both men knew each other and are lifelong residents.
Bussey was severely wounded, and is in stable condition.

A man who barricaded himself inside a home in Norfolk has been identified.
Norfolk Police say that 47-year-old Cory Dittman, of Norfolk is the suspect.
Police say it happened after Dittman allegedly shot another man Sunday morning.
Dittman has an extensive prior criminal history, with arrest and convictions, ranging from first-degree arson and terroristic threats in 2013, he was sentenced to five to 10 years in prison, serving only five.
Authorities say they are working to get Dittman out of the house, and end the standoff.
They say to avoid the area, calling it an “active situation.”

The suspect of a Sunday morning shooting near downtown Norfolk has barricaded himself in a home on the 700 to 900 block of Koenigstein Avenue.
Norfolk police, the Madison County Sheriff Department and Nebraska State Patrol remain on the scene trying to make contact with the suspect.
The shooting happened around 9:30 am Sunday morning. Police say several shots were fired and a gunshot victim has been transported to a nearby hospital.
