Shooting suspect Rashaun Jones appears in court

27-year-old Rashaun Jones appeared in the Lancaster County Court via video camera from jail Tuesday morning. 

Jones is facing charges of first degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony after allegedly shooting 25-year-old Davonnis Wilkinson in the head. 

His appearance lasted only a few minutes. The judge scheduled a preliminary hearing in the case for October 25 and Jones was dismissed. 

Wilkinson, his alleged victim, is the mother of Jones’ five children. Police said she will survive the shooting, but that she faces a lifetime of serious functional disability. 

The shooting happened early the morning of Sept. 9, at the town home Wilkinson and Jones shared near 3rd and Fairfield streets.
