Showers likely Monday, especially tonight and overnight
Over the weekend, it took a while for rain to start accumulating due to the amount of dry air we had for much of Saturday. After that, rain throughout Sunday and overnight added up nicely.
Below are some reports of rainfall from the weekend into early Monday morning. At the station, we measured just over seven tenths of an inch before the morning show.
And we’re looking at showers developing again for a wet end to Monday. After a damp morning, we’ll see rain chances increase by the afternoon.
The best chances for rain rates to pick up will be later Monday night into the overnight hours.
Showers will try to hang on for the first part of Election Day, coming to an end around 10 a.m. or so Tuesday morning – and cloud cover will clear after that.
So additional rainfall totals could be somewhere between a half an inch and an inch through that timeframe.
With Daylight Saving Time ending on Sunday, we continue to lose more daylight with very early sunsets. By the end of the month, we’ll only have about nine and a half hours of daylight with a sunset around 5 p.m.
Temperatures throughout this upcoming week will remain fairly steady in the 50s. Some may see some snow again (way out west through southwest Nebraska) on Wednesday, but rain will remain in the forecast for now for us. That includes more chances heading into next weekend.
