Sick of the humid “stick”? Fake fall coming soon

Cooler, dry air is coming soon. But we Nebraskans know this is probably only coming as a taste of fall or “fake fall,” with potentially another summer streak coming later before actual fall.

Midwest Seasons

In the meantime, the next few days will all be around 90° with some humidity until relief comes from a cold front later on Friday.

Jess Weather Headlines

High temperatures today will feel similar to the past couple days with very light winds again. It’s been really odd to see these light winds for so long this summer.

Wednesday afternoon will feature some popcorn-type, pop-up showers with a possible isolated rumble of thunder for a select few. Not everyone will see this.

Dma Stormcast Wed Pm

Thursday and Friday will be our days to eventually transition to a cooler, dry airmass once a front comes through. It’ll linger over the next couple days, giving us a chance at some scattered storms the second part of Friday.

3day Lincoln Forecast With Hourlies

Because of this front, a Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk for severe weather covers much of Nebraska for Friday, August 22nd. Isolated to widely scattered storms may threaten some hail and damaging wind in the stronger storms.

Friday Spc

This weekend we’ll get to enjoy a lot less humidity! Saturday, Sunday and into Monday will all have very comfortable dew point temperatures that will help make it feel like a taste of fall around here with the cooler temperatures.

Lincoln 7day Dew Point

We’re looking at temperatures only in the 70s for several days toward the end of August!

Jessica 10 Day Am

Even overnight lows will be in the 50s (potentially as low as the 40s in some areas Sunday/Monday nights).
