Six elk killed and dumped in northern Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Six elk were illegally killed and disposed of in northern Nebraska, authorities said Wednesday.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission said the carcasses were found Saturday near Gross in Boyd County. Gross is about 40 miles north of O’Neill.

“There was no attempt to salvage any part of the animals,” the commission said in a press release. “Anyone who intentionally abandons an edible portion of game or fails to dispose of game in a reasonable and sanitary manner commits wanton waste.”

Elk season in Nebraska does not start until Aug. 1, according to the Game and Parks website.

If you have any information on this case, you can submit it to Wildlife Crimestoppers. You can also call 800-742-7627.

Game and Parks is offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
