Slightly cooler into this week; better rain chances later
Being on the north side of another system passing to our south, we’ve got added cloud cover this morning and a good breeze allowing temperatures to hover in the 40s. Despite the warmer start on Monday, we’ll be slightly cooler with highs in the 60s through the first half of the upcoming week.
There were some light sprinkles falling mainly north and east of Lincoln early, but most are expected to stay dry through this. Better chances for rain come by Thursday.
Although not as windy as Sunday, we’ll still count on winds to be around 15-25 mph out of the north-northeast for Monday. By the afternoon, we’ll start to see a bit more sunshine poke out.
Today highs will still be well above averages in the middle 40s for the beginning of March. Temperatures through the warmest part of the day will be in the upper 60s and lower 60s, with warmer temperatures expected closer to Kansas and Missouri.
This dry period continues for us through midweek. Isolated chances for rain start up first out west late Wednesday, before better widespread rain chances come on Thursday, especially by the evening. Scattered showers will taper off into Friday.
A system by Thursday passing to the south in Kansas will provide better forcing in proximity for southeast Nebraska to first see some isolated, non-severe thunderstorms before rain is especially possible by the evening.
We’ll be on the northern side of this system that will drag temperatures down closer to the upper 40s by Friday as the rain.
