Small airplane catches fire on runway of Lincoln Airport
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A small plane caught fire Thursday morning on the runway at the Lincoln Airport.
Airport spokeswoman Rachel Barth said the National Guard responded to the fire on a private Cessna plane around 9:10 a.m.
The fire was quickly extinguished by crews from the National Guard, Barth said.
As the plane attempted to land, the brakes got too hot causing a flat tire and a small fire.
A Channel 8 reporter at the scene could see emergency vehicles on the runway when he arrived.
There was minimal damage done to the aircraft.
No one was injured in the fire.
