Small rain chance for southeast Nebraska Friday; snow west this weekend

Friday is starting out with temperatures about 20 degrees colder than it’s been here, recently. Temperatures will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s through a good part of the early morning, but the winds are so much lighter. That means the wind chill is bearable.

With some of the clouds increasing across southeast Nebraska later in the afternoon and evening, there may be some light sprinkles, showers that try to move in.

Fri Chance

This period (into the weekend) and much of next week looks very quiet across southeast Nebraska. Meanwhile in western Nebraska, snow is looking likely. The Panhandle could see several inches from a round that starts late Friday into Saturday, but what snow tries to move east into central and northeast Nebraska will not accumulate to anything over half an inch.

Snow

One of the latest model runs of Stormcast shows a few inches possible especially in areas nearing Sidney, Nebraska. Most of us won’t see much of anything.

There is a Winter Storm Watch that will go into effect by Friday afternoon, lasting until Saturday night. Up to 4-8″ of new snow is possible in this area with most of it falling throughout Saturday.

We’ll carry our quiet, mild weather into next week for everyone else closer to home.
