Small storm chances for the next few days

Rain overspread much of central Nebraska on Thursday morning. The coverage of that rain was much more widespread than any guidance was projecting. As a result, there appears to be a decent rain chance during the morning hours for areas near the Tri-Cities.

A spotty morning shower isn’t totally impossible in southeast Nebraska during the morning, but the overall odds decrease the farther east you go. For the afternoon, we expect some spotty shower activity, but primarily west of Lincoln. High temperatures should be in the upper-80s to near 90°, and we’ll keep the breezy conditions as well.

Thursday Forecast

Spotty rain remains possible to the west on Thursday afternoon. By late afternoon, we expect a line of storms to develop in central Nebraska and push east on Thursday night. This line will likely break up on approach towards Lincoln, resulting in more scattered activity late Thursday.

Stormcast Thursday Evening

One or two of these cells may be capable of producing strong wind gusts in central Nebraska. The Storm Prediction Center has placed areas west of Lincoln under a “Marginal” risk (level 1/5) for severe weather. The overall potential is very low.

Severe Weather Outlook

There are a few more small rain chances through Saturday, after which we turn drier. Despite a slight “cooldown” back into the 80s on Friday, we’re back in the 90s on Saturday. That warming trend will continue into next week.
